A highly effective hack to wake up early in the morning.

It’s a little silly, but that’s what makes it effective.

I know, believe me, I know as I write this post and as you read this post, you might be wondering what the hell can help me wake up if a freaking alarm clock blaring at mind-numbing volume can’t? What else do I need to wake up early except developing a 3 hour world-class morning routine complete with 50 steps, as advocated by these productivity gurus? Well, for starters you kind of need to know all that.

But if you already know all of that and it still doesn’t work out, I have a hack. Kinda. Full disclosure- Results may vary depending on the personality type. Btw, you can thank me later.

So you’ve heard of ‘Ikigai’ right? Basically, it’s the reason which makes you wake up each morning. But if you are anything like me, still figuring out your Ikigai, here’s a pro tip: it doesn’t need to be something as big as making a change in the world. It can be as simple as something unproductive you love doing. For example, I like watching YouTube. So, when I wanted to start waking up early, I would save videos from my favourite YouTubers and watch them in the morning. The thought of waking up to do something exciting would help me get out of my bed in the morning. And once you’re awake, you can (maybe get a shot of caffeine?) and then get on with the day. In fact, back when I was a kid, I had a book filled with the craziest horror stories and because I love reading, I remember developing this crazy habit of waking up at 5 am somehow to read before going to school. So yeah, it works if you’re willing.

Of course, whatever activity you choose could be a bit unhealthy, and would not necessarily be a part of a healthy morning routine, and I don’t recommend adding it into one. But once you start waking up at your desired time, simply slowly switch to good morning habits you always wanted, and it should do the trick.

Two things you should know about me- I drink too much coffee, and daydream more than I should. That's it.
